Ride with GPS "waiting for phone connection"

Trying to load Ride with GPS widget to my Garmin Edge 1040. Shows up on Edge under Connect IQ menu screen, but keep getting "waiting for phone connection" What does this mean? how can I actually get widget to work? Thanks

  • The Ride with GPS CIQ app needs to use the internet to sync routes from Ride with GPS.

For this to work, I think:

    - The Connect app has to be open on your phone

    - Your Edge has to be paired via bluetooth with your phone and the Connect app

    - Bluetooth has to be enabled on your Edge

Once you've done the initial setup as described at the link ^, you may be able to get away with only using Wi-Fi on your Edge to sync routes (without also using your phone), but I'm not 100% sure about that.

  • (Typically when any CIQ app says “waiting for phone connection”, it means you’re supposed to open Connect on your phone and let your device connect to the phone/Connect via bluetooth, so the app can use the internet.)
