I haven't been able to get Garmin Express v7.24.0.0 or older versions to recognise my Drivesmart 50 for the past few years on windows 10 x64 with latest updates installed, i had to use another computer. I had Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86) v14.32.31332.0 installed on my computer. I just downloaded the installer for the newer Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86) v14.42.34433.0 and installed it and now Garmin Express is able to recognise my sat nav after restarting windows.
Garmin express needs to be updated to either include the latest Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable in the installer or to check for the installed version during setup and download the latest version if an older build is detected or none detected.
Here is the installer if anyone needs it: aka.ms/.../vc_redist.x86.exe
This guide needs updating to tell users to install the latest visual c++, currently it just says install the latest updates but that doesn't update visual c++ redistributable: support.garmin.com/.../
