There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect

Hi, I bought a new forerunner 265 and in Garmin Express I am getting an error message "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect". I have tried restarting the watch, also deleted the device from Express and installing it again and I have also deleted the updates all based on previous posts... any advice? Thanks!

  • Try a COMPLETE uninstall of the Garmin Express app and reinstall.

I have a Forerunner 255s, and started having the problem this week. I did the steps listed on various pages of this forum, and the problem remained. Finally, I did the uninstall. Full functionality has been restored.

  • Same error message for my Forerunner 265 on MacBook Air. Uninstalled and reinstalled Garmin Express but the problem still persists. Have sent an email to Garmin support and awaiting their response.

  • Same here... followed all recommendations possible and I still get the red banner with the error message. Chatted with Garmin and chat was dropped.. they never called back

  • Problem continues. Email to Garmin Support on 18 September 2024 has remained unanswered. Can the Garmin Support do something about this?

  • Try calling them

  • I'm having much the same problem with FR 965. On searching for solutions online (tried them all including those listed here - none work) I see that people have been posting about this for over 10 years!!

  • Looks like Garmin has given up on this! But it takes away the Music functionality as unable to upload music files. Even the Finder on Mac does not show the device after clicking "Allow" on prompt when plugged in. Looks like there is some inherent problem with Mac iOS and Garmin devices. Has anyone faced the same issue with other browsers too or is it limited to iOS only?

  • Garmin support responded and asked to check the watch sync with Windows PC or another Mac. It worked without a glitch on Windows OS. So, the issue is with compatibility of Garmin Express (Forerunner 265) with iOS that needs to be resolved by both companies by tweaks to their software and providing an update to users.

My issue remains unresolved as the full functionality of Forerunner 265 eludes me in the absence of sync with my MacBook air.

  • This answer over here fixed it for me, involves deleting a folder for the device in the Express folder on your Mac forums.garmin.com/.../1851553
