Win11 PCs report error "Dieses Gerät wurde angehalten, weil es Fehler gemeldet hat. (Code 43) Fehler bei einer Anforderung des USB-Gerätedeskriptors." when trying to connect Venu 3 or Vivoactive 3

Hi all, I have the permanent error that I cannot connect both my Venu 3 and my Vivoactive 3 to any of my two Win11 PCs. Windows reports an un-identified device, and the device manager gives the message as shown in the subject. Tried alos several cables - does not help. Also installing the "latest" USB drivers from Garmin (2015 - rotfl) does not change anything.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Greeting Michael

  • Try going into Device Manager and select each of the USB hub definitions, then select the Power Management tab and uncheck the Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power checkbox to deselect that option.  Exit out, reboot and retest.

  • Thanks! That seems to be the issue - the watch is recognized sporadically. Rocking the connector at the watch now leads to toggling btw. "recognized" and "unknown device". Which led me to the idea that the cable contacts of the Garmin plug could have a problem. Will get me a new cable and try again.

  • With a new cable it works - so I seem to have had a double error (the power saver option and a defect cable). Thanks @JohnfromPA for your valueable hint!
