"Old" device sync failing?

Has there been any change in how syncing of really old devices work? I have two backup devices - the original vivomove and the vivoki. Both are paired to my phone but fail to sync - there is no error message, but the last synced date on Garmin Connect doesn't change. The vivomove is paired to Garmin Express via ANT stick and same issues is happening - sync "completes" but last synced date (and data) doesn't update on GC. Interestingly, settings do sync.

I have tried all the usual troubleshooting steps (reset device, unpair, re-pair...) but nothing helped. Since I am not using these devices frequently I am not sure when this started happening - the vivoki's last successful sync date was early July (according to  GC).

  • I am having the same exact issue.  My Vivoki stopped syncing to Garmin Connect on July 31, 2024.  I assume support for Vivoki is officially over.  The vivoki product is discontinued by Garmin and there is barely any troubleshooting help on the Garmin website.  Restarting your phone and repairing the Vivoki to your phone via bluetooth don't help at all.  I think, unfortunately, vivokis are now worthless and do nothing.  Too bad, the smallness and clip-on feature made it a great device for basic exercise tracking.

  • I doubt this is intentional, for several reasons:

    1. it impacts multiple older devices (vivoki, "original" vivomove, vivoactive HR).

    2. despite several devices being affected, there has been no communications - it would be trivial for Garmin to send an "end of life" notice to all people who have these devices paired to their accounts.

    3. the pairing/onboarding process still works for these devices; I would assume pairing would be disabled for devices that are "EOL".

    4. syncing of setting still works.

    5. it did happen in the past Slight smile

Unfortunately, I am unable to find a way how to raise a support ticket; I am trying to figure out how to get this on Garmin's radar. As you said, despite tracking steps only, these devices are great for basic tracking or as a "backup".
