Whats the difference in sync between express and connect

After registration, do I need Garmin Express at all?

I find syncing with Express connected by USB cable is much faster than over Wi-Fi. If you have music or maps to sync with your device, it can make a difference. For example, syncing my Edge Bike computer over Wi-Fi usually takes 2+ minutes. By cable, it's less than 5 seconds.
