nuvi 52 , how to transfer files to SD card

I have the NUVI 52. The iinternal storage is redlined and nearly full. I had previously installed a SD card and it is recognized, however, no files go to it. How can I transfer files to it, or will it happen automatically after internal reaches a full 100%. Thank you

What size is the SD card? 32 GB is the maximum and it has to be formatted as FAT32. Beyond that, it should be automatic. When it needs the space it will use it as needed.

Thank you very much. It is 16 GB.I bought it new. Would it have come formatted as Fat 32? Would you recommend removing and putting it into a card reader to check format?

A 16Gb card should be FAT32. As already stated if needed it will be used.
