does it really work?

I am really curious if any updates work.

I have tried now for a week to update DriveSmart 7 with the Garmin Express. Before anyone says it's your internet, I have tried mine, a friends (fiber), hotspot, and a couple of open wifi networks. Now this morning I have tried going directly on wifi through the DriveSmart wifi connection.

While using the Garmin Express, it starts off like gang busters, then slows to a crawl. First time it got to about 7%, after an hour or so, then failed. Second attempt it got to 20%, after 3 1/2 hrs and then failed. After trying repeated attempts, yesterday it finally got to 92% after about 10hrs and hand only 20 minutes to go, then it failed again.

This morning I am connecting with the wifi connection directly to the device. It started off, 2hr 45min remaining, now after and hour it's saying 4hr 15min, and no progress on the blue bar.

So my question, does anyone at Garmin actually use their products and has anyone there actually tried to update a device like a regular customer does?

This is crazy, I can download 4 - 6 Gb software from our companies library in about 20 - 35 minutes, what is going on?

  • Well, I guess I'm a "regular customer" and although I don't have a DriveSmart device I do update (3) Garmin devices and do so without any issues.  Having said that you might share the characteristics of the various computers you've tried and the specific operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11, or ???).

  • I had a similar issue a while ago ... but all I did was uninstall Garmin Express from my Laptop .. I just reinstalled and the download error code went away.
