After Install of Map update 2025.10 "History" selection disappears.

Recently I purchased a Drivesmart 86 device.

After bringing it home I connected it via USB to my PC. I then started Garmin Express which said there was a firmware update.  I installed the update the process went without a hitch and the firmware was updated to 6.80.

After the reboot I then clicked on the "Where To?" selection and then Selected "History" and then selected "All Categories" and everything worked fine, no problems.

The next day I connected the the Drivesmart 86 via USB to my PC. There was a map update notification, I pressed install and the installation completed without issue.

Something happened after updating the maps to 2025.10 because that afternoon I was going on a trip and wanted to look up historical information on places to visit during my trip so I selected the "Where To?" and the "History" selection was gone (Not on the screen anymore).

Can anyone help me with this?

  • History isn't available for all map regions, did you do a full install of your original map?

  • Good news every one, Ive been working with garmin on the above issue and their engineers have been able to recreate the problem in their Lab. Garmin Engineers are working on a solution and will contact me when they have a solution.

    I"ll post the solution when its made available.

  • Same issue. The HISTORY app is gone on my Drivesmart 86 recently purchased and updates. Customer service added my email to the list and should be notified when the issue is resolved.

  • So far no word from Garmin. You may want to report the problem to them to speed things up. They will probably ask for some additional files from your device. Please let up know your results...

  • Has this ever been fixed? I just purchased a DriveSmart 66 and after downloading the update my History app disappeared. Wondering if I should return it

  • I would double check that the feature is properly enabled.  The owner manual for these devices, like the DS86 says "Before you can use this feature, you must enable the travel history feature (Device and privacy settings)."  Apparently this is done by selecting Select Apps > Trip History.  Then retest.

    If enabled, you might want to consider disabling the feature, powering the device OFF, then power ON, the re-enable the feature.  I have found that this causes a form of a reset to the feature.  I'm not familiar with the device so I can't say if this reset effort might not wipe the history from the device.

  • I have not heard a word from Garmin on this problem. Very disappointed...

  • It's not the travel history that disappears. It's the History channel history, it show history channel information for your current location or planned location. Show historical monuments museums and other related history you can visit.

  • Well first of all logic tells me that history channel info is outside the realm of Garmin’s scope of supply.  It more likely is associaed with the smartphone being used and supplying that info TO the Garmin device.  So I would be checking the various related settings on the smartphone being used.
