I’m not familiar with the watches but the first thing that comes to mind is the battery charge level. It is preferable to charge most devices with a dedicated charger, not a PC USB port. If you’ve already fully charged it, I would try to recoeenct to GE and see what response you get.
Check the charging % shown while the watch is connected to the computer (as that is the only way the watch will display the actual %) and if the display is showing sufficiently charged, disconnect. If the watch is still going blank, press and hold the UP/POWER button on the upper left side of the display and keep it help until you see the Garmin logo appear, or release if 20 seconds has passed of holding the button without the logo appearing.
