Additional comment to "Maps 2025.10" discussion

In the discussion titled "Maps 2025.10", the OP PaulKirkpatrick observed that his network connection appeared to be closing during the map install to PC process causing it to fail. It would be interesting to see whether folks experiencing this have the power management setting enabled that allows the PC to turn off power to the network adapter to save power. I don't know the technical details of how that power management function works but I am wondering if it is not detecting the traffic from Garmin resulting in the PC turning off the network adapter.

The machine level settings like sleep and auto shutdown don't affect the device level power management settings. Those options are in the "Power" tab located in the Properties of each applicable…

When downloading map updates, I've ensured that "Sleep" and "auto shutdown" are diasbled, and that I am mains supply.

There is a setting on laptops called "USB Selective Suspend" that can allow your operating system to put your USB devices in a very low-power state when they are not actively in use. Although not generally an issue, I think if you are having issues, it is worth a try to disable. the feature and retest. See usb selective suspend

Thanks John. I have had a look, and suspend is enabled for mains or batterry operation on the laptop I use for Express, For next map update I will try with these disabled.
