There was an error installing the update

Hi there,

I am having troubles installing the Map updates on my new Garmin Edge Solar 840. I am getting the famous error "There was an error installing the update"

I tried every step in FAQ and is still not working. 

Anyone know a universal solution?

    If the FAQ doesn't help call Product Support as suggested at the bottom of the FAQ

    Unfortunately, I'm a Mac user so I don't know the specifics for Windows - however, it's worth hunting around for a log file written by Express during the install process.  This might give you some clues. 

    It's also worth checking the file system on the Garmin device, particularly the amount of free space available.  I discovered for my Drive 52 that some files must be stored on the device (and could not on an external memory card).  After a few updates, the internal memory was clogged up with some older and obsolete files, despite the external memory having many free gigs of space. It didn't help that the folder holding these files would normally be hidden from view by casual users.
