Nuvi 250

I have an old Nuvi 250 which was UK based and the map content was UK/Ireland.

  1. I have reason to resurrect it as the car I will use it in does not have any navigation option. My Garmin app automatically updated itself to Garmin Express.
  2. Somewhere along the line I have inadvertently uploaded Central European maps. The details of my UK maps has disappeared and when I connect my Nuvi through Garmin Express it checks for updates to express and then map content which it defaults to European. In looking at the drop down map selection for map change there is no UK map option. I have a formatted SD card in place as I was advised by the Garmin tech support in Southampton that available memory may have been the issue for failure to automatically download.
  3. All I want is my UK maps back.
  4. What can I do?
  • Just as a point of interest, what is the brand of SD card being used?  Also, it should be formatted to FAT32; can you check the file allocation size?  The reason I ask is a few months back someone reported a 32GB card that was reporting (after formatting) a size that slightly exceeded 32 GB.  I believe it was a Kingston card.  32 GB cards should report around 28 or 29 GB (working from memory here).  In any event, as best I recall, the individual went to a different brand card and didn;t have any more issues.

  • If you have the full European map you have UK as its included in the full European map

  • Hi again.

i have been trying to follow the instructions on the cloning site.

    the instruction advises changing 3 file names gmapprom.img, gmapprom.gma and gmapprom.uni to gmapsupp.img, gmapsupp.gma and gmapsupp.uni.

My difficulty is that these files may have already been created in the process of installing files onto the SD card.

I will try to take a screen shot of the SD card files for you and If you can find a way through to th next step I would be grateful.

  • Sorry but if you have issues with the instructions please join that forum and ask questions there, thanks.

  • Apologies. Not quite sure how these forums work. I thought I was on it rather than directly through to you.

  • No, you need to go to the link I posted above and ask there.

  • As you've now done as suggested I'm closing this thread. The forum where you've posted will resolve the issue for you.
