Garmin Express will not load on my computer

When I try to load the latest version of Garmin Express on my Windows 10 laptop the programm fail when it gets to the visual C check and then states:

Install Failed

Garmin Express could not be installed on this computer. Try Installing Again.

I've tried loading and unloading the visual C on my machine and this has not resolved the problem

You may be lucky. There are a lot of people with the latest version installed but it crashes on startup.

Unfortunately I uninstalled the previous version to see if the was the problem…

Try running the MIcrosoft .NET framwork repair tool at www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

What is the specific version of Windows, beyond being “10” is it Home, Pro, S or?

There is a set of instructions at GE won't install or run. But before you go through all the steps, try something that many years ago worked for me on my Win 10 Pro installation. After trying virtually everything I located the GE executable, right clicked it and allowed Windows to do a compatibility check. I let Windows do the check and make the selection, I did not force any OS on GE. Surprisingly Windows selected Windows 8. It ran perfectly from then on and I never changed the compatibility back to Win 10. It runs fine even now, even though in the last few days Windows 8 is “officially” no longer supported.
