Is it common to have to wipe all user data and reconfigure (reset)?

My Garmin Drive 61 was really frustrating me; sometimes I could save an address to use later, and sometimes there was no [CENSORED/DELETED] Save box in the dialog. I could save trips with 100% ease, but those addresses were giving me pure-D ***. Finally, I had to restore the device to factory-shipped condition. It was a pain in the butt, but now it works like it's supposed to.

And considering that the device was designed to work in vehicles, why can't it adequately charge off the car battery-supplied current?

  • pure-D *** is supposed to be edited as "pure-D Hades," but the idiot AI can't find the censored string.

  • I can't address your first issue since you provide limited details other than the lack of a "Save" button.  Glad it was resolved.

On the 2nd issue, the device is designed to be adequately charged from use in the vehicle.  Keep in mind that many vehicles today only have the accessory outlet powered up when the engine is running or the ignition is in the accessory position.  The device itself also, should you just allow it to turn off, or a quick push of the power button, only goes into a standby mode.  Thus power is still being used.  To turn it OFF, you have to push and hold the power button until an OFF prompt appears on the screen.  See page 5 (as numbered in the PDF) of the DriveSmart manual .Specifically the part under "Turning the Device On or Off"
