Garmin Express 7.17.3 fails to install on Windows 10 Pro 22H2

When I try to install Garmin Express 7.17.3 (Downloaded from Garmin) I get the Install Failed error dialog box.

I tried to use compatibility mode and install as Windows 8 and even Windows 7, it failed every time. I just want to update my maps.

Hmmm, your comment “I just want to update my maps”; has Garmin Express ever been successfully installed on this computer?

The same problem happened on Windows 11. Garmin Express has never updated without errors. I have to uninstall it using support.microsoft.com/.../fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d
and only then can I install the new version.

The app above didn't help as I never was able to install it and it didn't show up in the list.

It was installed on this hardware a while back running Windows 7 or 8 on an old HDD.

The upgrade to Windows 10 failed so I have a clean install on a new SSD and I haven't been able to install Garmin. I checked the registry as indicated in the trouble shooting and there is no Garmin entry, as expected with a clean Windows 10 install.

I would run the Windows Troubleshooter and then retest. You can find instructions at Windows 10 Troubleshooter but as best you can uninstall GE initially, then run the troubleshooter, then reinstall GE, then retest. Specific version of the .NET Framwork are needed by GE. These steps should hopefully make sure they are installed.

I downloaded from garmin website also using microsoft edge and also had this problem. Called Garmin product support number and they told me to right click on download exe file and click on show in folder then right click on the garmin express exe file then click on properties then at the bottom I had a security warning saying: This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer. Put a check mark by unblock then click apply then ok then it should be unblocked.
