Stuck on « Preparing device for map up date » on windows 10 while uppdating my nuvi 255W

Hi, I'm tying to update my old garmin gps nuvi 255w on windows 10. The download of garmin express went pretty well and garmin express reconizes my garmin gps.

However, when I try to update it, i'm stuck in the « Step 1 of 2 : Preparing Device for map Update ». I let it run for 5 hours and nothing is going on. Any ideas how to fix this?

Disconnect and try again. If that still doesn't work try using the cloning method www.poi-factory.com/.../39231

That’s an old GPS; you are using a memory card I assume. It should be between 4 and 32 GB, preferably 16 GB for the newest maps.

Thanks for your help. It turns out that I restarted my computer and I changed my 32 Go Sd card for a 16 SD card and everything worked fine. I don't know why, but my GPS was not able to detected my 32 Go Sd card. Thanks for the link you sent me. I will follow it next time if I have others problems.

I indeed changed my 32 SD card that was not reconized by my GPS for a 16 Go Sd card and it did work after I restart my computer. Thank you very much for your help.

Some people report having issues with 32 GB cards that show a formatted size at about 30.7 GB. Not sure why that may be happening as typically the formatted size of a 32 GB card is slightly less than 30 GB, perhaps something around 29.7 as best I recall.
