Keep files on PC with uploaded activities

I've read, the Garmin Express deletes the files with activities after successful upload to Garmin Connect.
Question 1: is there a possibility to keep the uploaded files on PC - turn off the delete of them after upload to GC?
Question 2: is there a possibility to switch off the automatic upload to GC, so the files from watch are stored on PC and can be uploaded manually?

The link at https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=oRFoANiwdW8hd9LSqjr8X8 provides the location of the files and naming convention and how to delete them so maybe that info can help you do a localized backup.

the support page is about deleting activity files from garmin device (like watch) but the question is about the activity files on PC - files wihich were stored during transfer from garmin device to PC and were deleted after transfer from PC to Garmin Connect
