Image not Showing on Garmin Express V2

After being more annoying that even i thought it was possible i finally figured out why the generic image shows.

So i dug up the filesystem on the Windows machine and ended up at C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Garmin\express

And inside it there are a lot or fewer directories like e.g: 3399976546

Inside in all my other devices there is a file called device which is a png file with the image of the device and the Fenix 7 doesn't have it and that is why we are getting served the non existing image.

Garmin Please Fix Garmin Express.

  • Hello,

It seems that you have discovered a potential issue with Garmin Express, specifically regarding the display of images for the Fenix 7 device. The absence of a "device.png" file in the corresponding directory could be causing the problem.

If you would like Garmin to address this issue and fix Garmin Express, you can try reaching out to their customer support or submitting a bug report. Providing them with the information you have discovered, including the specific directory and the missing "device.png" file, can help them investigate the problem more effectively. They may release an update or provide a solution to resolve the issue.  TellPopeyes

  • You might want to test your theory one more step but take note the device image files are also at C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Devices\, at least on my PC.

I took a JPG image off the web of a Fenix 7 (which I don't own) and saved it locally.  I then ran it through an online converter (JPG to PNG) and created a PNG image.  That image was oversize based on all my device.png files, which seem to run about 70K.  Using paint I opened the PNG file and did a resize by 40% and the image was reduced to the approximate size.  I'm not on my personal PC, but I would think that if I placed that image into the appropriate locations, using the proper name, it might yield an image in the normal manner.

  • Right, am going mad a bit with the above trying to make a PNG for Venu 2 Plus being of the same sort like all other devices I own/have in there. I'm stuck at PNG 8 bit (GE) and 32 bit (my version) and did not manage to downconvert properly and/or create a file that GE would read correctly.

Thus, as my efforts are a bit fruitless, could someone who own Venu 2 Plus do me a favour, dig a bit for me - as per the above: C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Garmin\express - find correct PNG file and share with me please?

    Many thanks in advance.
