As with previous versions my Edge1040 is still "wireless'
So, even if it is disconnected and it was never connected after installing 16.3.0 update GE Windows shows it as being connected
before this updated version I have tried many uninstalls of GE, deleted garmin related several folders, cleaned some reisters in windows
nothing helped. Edge1040 is wireless. A great feature from Garmin
And, after plugging in the device - it always give me
~25 updates for language files
- 3 data field apps updates
- and even Sw 16.11 version update (which I already have on my device)
No matter if I install them all, or one by one, next time I still get the update info available
Pure speculation on my part but the Edge 1040 uses 2.4 Ghz for transmission. So does my Accurite thermometer and that has a specified range for the temperature sensor of 300 feet. So perhaps if the Edge is on and in reasonable proximity to your PC running GE, it is detected in the normal manner.
Still have problem with crash to desktop when start app. After deleting (no files of garmin left on computer), cleaning registry and installing fresh 7.16.3.0 the problem of no server connection is back. I live in Germany but i use US-keyboard and windows is in English. I roll back to 7.13.1.0 because i do not have any newer version of Express. If anybody can upload any 7.15 version I would be grateful.
Installed 7.16.3 and still having the unable to connect to server message when trying to install a new device. Already contacted Garmin and they just posted me the link to the troubleshooting page, which I've already tried several times.
Garmin customer since 1999, when my current devices die then I will most likely purchase a product from one of the competitors.
Extremely disappointed - after several instances of my Edge Touring just switching off mid-ride, this is probably the final straw.
Rubbish software, very unprofessional in a keenly competitive market.
GE detects device when its not connected and not powered ON
Fresh new installation of GE version - see how it detects a device which is hanging on my microphone stand next to screen

How the hell do i make not to see it, except reinstalling Windows ?
I'm begining to wonder if Garmin actually do care. I have an Edge 520 Plus which synchs with my telephone so no need for Express. I also have an Edge Touring which I prefer but needs Express to synch. Maybe they are trying to push us away from non-bluetooth devices ?
