Garmin Express coul not be installed on this computer. Try installing again. v.7.16.2.0

AGAIN??? I am already afraid of any  new Express update... WIthin last years this happened to me already several times... I tried EVERY hints including registry modifications, running installation as a administrator, disabling antivirus, EVERYTHING. I purchased 50USD maps, which requires run newest version of Garmin express. So I waste my money probably. Is there anybody in Garmin willing to finally make their apps user friendly?

  • As crazy at it may seem, with a GPS, some people have indicated that an incorrect clock setting on the device can create some issues.  So make sure your device has the correct time.  Even go in and change the setting to “Manual”, set the clock, then reset to “Auto Detect”.

  • Hello John, thanks a lot. It idn't work for me, I tried it following all other steps (uninstalling through registry modification, disabling antivirus, firewall, ... however I will record this hint for future as troubles will come again for sure. When I tried to reinstall past version, to my surprise message popped up that app is already installed.Older version, 7.13.1.0. At least it works, however I still don't see purchased map...I raised ticket and will hope for better future. Thanks once more

  • Very frustrating. I have version 7.15.2.0. I have been unable to update on my desktop Windows 11 computer to 7.16.2.0. Windows 11 is up to date, tried your clock idea and it didn't work.

What is going on with Garmin???

  • FYI, I also tried to uninstall version 7.15.2.0, and the Garmin app failed to uninstall. Even deleted Garmin Express from the registry, and no joy with either uninstalling 7.15.2.0 or installing 7.16.2.0.  Previously I was also unable to install 7.16.1.0, thinking (incorrectly it appears) that Garmin would get a number of complaints about the failed installation and fix it.  Is Garmin again using users as a Beta test group???

  • One more note: I even downloaded the Garmin Express 7.16.2.0 directly from the Garmin website, and when launching it, got the error that Garmin Express could not be installed on this computer (windows 11, up to date).

  • Hello, I found a way in my case (Win10). Uninstalling files from registry doesn't uninstall all the files there. There is a utility (or how to call that), which is linked to ANT services. If you browse through all folders in the registry with all that crazy names consisting of numbers, you will find one, where Garmin is named as a publisher. If you delete this one, suddenly you will be able to uninstall Garmin Express and install new version. I posted this in some another thread here. Hope somebody from Garmin reads their forums... Just in case - I am not computer specialist, just very desperate Garmin user, crazy from these guys behind Garmin.

  • I am also facing the same issue.

  • I had the same issue trying to update to 7.16.3.0 from some older version.  New version said "can't be installed on this computer".  Trying to uninstall the old one failed as well.  In the end,  I just deleted all the subdirectories under c:\Program Files (x86)\garmin\ and then re-ran the installer and it worked ok. I should have noted the exact older version, but it was about 2 years old I believe.
