Forerunner 245 - add music from external usb using file explorer

Hi all apologies if this has already been asked.

My music is on my phone, and I want to transfer it to my forerunner 245 music.

Using the Garmin Express desktop app works fine, but I have to initially transfer the music to the C:/ drive as the phone as a USB mass storage device is not recognised by the Garmin Express app.

Both the phone and the watch can be opened in File Explorer, but when copying/pasting the files, nothing happens.

Any help would be appreciated

I'm not familiar with the Forerunner 245, but Garmin has instructions at Downloading Personal Audio Content. One thing I notice is step #3 which reads "In the My Music or iTunes Library list, select an audio file category, such as songs or playlists." So first question would be do you have "My Music" or "iTunes" installed since one or the other appears to be needed?

Hey, and apologies for the late response (hoisted by my own petard, I think!)

Realistically when using both devices (phone and watch) as mass storage devices, the location of the files shouldn't be an issue. However, it could well be that.

So the issue was with the phone. I either didn't have it in the correct storage mode, or it just didn't like it.

Anyways, plugging the micro SD into the laptop worked so could just use file explorer.
