  • I just installed version 7.16.2.0 but I'm still getting the error "There was a problem connecting to the Garmin servers. We're unable to sign you in because our servers are unavailable at this time."  I've tried reverting to version 7.15.0 but have the same error.  It was working fine a couple of weeks ago and then started crashing on launch.  Any suggestions?

  • And it's just stupid. It keeps telling me that I have SW update available -16.08. But I have i had it already on my device since many days.

And, after installing 16.10 it still tells me that 16.08 SW update is available

Furthermore, after disconnecting and removing my device from the computer it still shows it as it would be connected

    Stupid tool implementation!

  • Still the same installation (LiteDB databases and/or configuration are not migrated properly from 7.15.x.0 – 7.16.1.0 works - resulting in the usual "Garmin Express quit unexpectedly") issues of 7.16.1.0 and - note: this may or may not apply to your location - connectivity ("We're unable to add this device" – VPNing from some countries works), which is unsurprising, as the changelog does not mention addressing these problems (a car analogy would actually be “The engine is still toast, however we replaced the mats”).

In the event you're currently running 7.15.x.0, copy the content of %allusersprofile%\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\Application\Application\Application_Application.express-windows.7.15.2.0 before attempting the update, as you'll be able to rollback to the previous version (garminexpressinstaller.exe is there – hat off to Garmin for not having previous version officially available) hereby saving yourself some headaches.

On a personal note, it would be quite interesting to see Garmin’s reaction if, when buying one of their devices and/or services, I would utter “Hey mate: I’m going to pay you in 26 days… hope you accept North Korean Wons”: well, it would be only fair, since that's what Garmin users/owners are dealing with the current quality of the company's products and services.

  • Device Forerunner 610. Had the update installed few days ago, and then syncing was running for ever.  Uninstalled the app completely and reinstalled.

Was supposed to be the latest, but now getting the message to update again.

There should be a 2nd button to skip the update, there is only "update now"

  • Well basically from what you’ve posted, the version 16.10 is a beta and the version 16.08 isn’t so that may be why you are being offered a roll back.

  • both versions are beta versions. And you never get a roll-back offer. It's only going up to the newest version available, beta or official release

  • In most instances, if you haven’t by intent removed them, the installtion files may exist on your PC so a roll-back offer isn’t necessary. Search out the folder named “downloads” that exists under the ProgramData folder.  You likely will find older versions of GE at that location.  Don’t attempt  to do a roll-back, without doing a proper uninstall of the existing version first.  You’ll also find a folder named “Maps” that might have several older versions, each of which are about 7 GB in size.

  • Did somebody succeed to do usual uninstall? It never allowed me, I always had to do it via registry modification...

  • I’ve only done it once (Win 10 machine) and that was to test that the old copies were indeed the installation files.  I had no issues.  I do not allow GE to run in the background and if you can’t uninstall in the normal manner, I wonder if that might be an issue.  The normal uninstall method is what Garmin presents first at Uninstall

  • no problem uninstalling in Win11, and installing again with the latest available exe downloaded. The problem is functionality of the version. Is not syncing with Garmin connect. Same as described before occurred last week.
