Forerunner 910xt won't pair with new ANT+ stick.

I have an older Garmin Forerunner 910xt which I hadn't used for a few years and realised I had lost the original ant stick so I purchased a new one. Garmin express can see the ant stick but cannot find the device (ie Forerunner910xt) and I get the error message of "We found an ANT sticj=k but didn't find a device". I have turned pairing on on the watch. Any ideas of how to pair my watch and ANT stick?

As the FR910XT does not have HR broadcasting via Dynastream Ant+, such pairing is done exclusively from the smartwatch to its sensors, therefore your Ant+ USB stick (to be used, for example, with Zwift) does the very same job and connects directly to said sensors (HRM, power meter, cadence, etc.) completely bypassing your Forerunner (whereupon it cannot be connected).

I know I won't be of much help, but a couple of days ago I managed to pair a 310XT to Garmin Express via an ANT+ stick. No issues whatsoever. I did not install garmin usb drivers, unless they were installed automatically during garmin express installation.

I use the original ANT+ stick which was provided by Garmin with the Forerunner 310XT. I believe it's the oldest model and it looks like this:

Thanks. I didn't have to install any USB drivers, just Garmin express. It seems like the problem might be with the watch or the ant stick since Garmin express can find the ant stick, but it seems the ant stick can't pair with the watch.

Thanks, might see what I can find by way of old software but given it's a new ant stick I thought it would work with the latest. I'm open to trying anything!!

Same. Running Windows 11 and Garmin Express version 7.16.1. Nothing else needed.

catherine.crane, with the latest Garmin Express, that should be all you need. It might be that you need to reset the 910XT to factory defaults.This will remove history, courses, any personal data and reset the watch to day 1, out-of-the-box condition.

Thanks for that, I did try a factory reset already and it still didn't work unfortunately.

Have you tried moving the ANT+ stick to a different USB port? I have a 910XT that is paired to my PC but from time-to-time, the PC doesn't see it when I've tried to sync.

I've solved it by moving the stick to a different USB port on the PC just for that sync. Later, I would move it back and it would be fine.
