Garmin 2597 Map Update Failed Now Reads "You're up to date!"

Was doing a Garmin 2597 update. Software updated to 8.80. Map showed 7GB download. Started saving to "device + computer" eventually failed. Now Garmin Express reads "You're up to date!"

Checking map version and it is still CN North America 2019.30 when new is 2023.20.

.system/ folder shows gmapprom.img of 2.8GB with a date stamp of 2018-11-10 corresponding to the old map version

Garmin/ GarminDevice.xml can be edited to re-install all the software/firmware but not the map.

If the .img file (and associated files .gma/.unl) were made available I could just drop them into the .system/ folder and be done. But... this has taken way too much time.

I'd be grateful for suggestions.

Try deleting the GarminDevice file then reboot the device. This will recreate that file hopefully correctly. Now run Express. Personally I never select update both device and computer, so I also suggest you update them separately.

Thank you. Garmin Device file deleted. New file was auto-created. Map update now shows as option. The only reason update/save was selected for both device and computer was in the hopes of allowing more facile "download resume" as I am often disconnected where I am. Thank you for your help!
