Hello, what can I do when it takes 5 hours to download map?

Hello Everyone

I just brought a Garmin Fenix 6s pro. When I link up to Garmin Express because I couldn’t see animated workout, it said I need to update topo map, which is great. However, it took 5 hours ish to download and the download speed is around 500kb/s :( It is definitely not my network problem. I ran a speed test and it showed 50MB/s and the upload speed is 10MB/s.

I know someone else posted these kind of questions before but I couldn’t find a useful solution.

I've never had a map update take longer than an hour and in the last few years it's been under 30 minutes. So I suspect something is wrong somewhere in your setup, maybe your ISP is throttling the download?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. But when I download other things it is very quick. It is only with this.

The problem is, the system now telling me 80kbs :(((

Hello!

I have same issues with Garmin Express updating my maps since good 2 years. I need to dance around my device, sing voodoo songs and then it maybe works.

Then something is likely wrong with your system including possibly your ISP throttling the download. My map updates take under 30 minutes, and have done for many years

my ISP does nothing. What kind of Garmin Device do you have?

I have had many over the years, now have 3 on the road devices and one handheld, never had an issue. If you've tried all the steps in the FAQ I gave you in your other thread then call Product Support for help.
