Stuck on Preparing Device for Software Update - Driveluxe 50, Windows 11

I am using Windows 11 trying to update a Driveluxe 50 and it is just stuck on Preparing Device for Software Update.  Have tried it a number of times and waited 30 minutes to an hour.  I saw your other post that suggested going to the developer screen and setting mpt to mass storage when using Window 10, which I did.  Still getting the same thing and I verified that the Driveluxe has mpt set to mass storage after cycling power.  I know the PC and software are fine as I also have a Zumo XT that I recently updated with no problems.

    Just some added information, Windows 11 mounts the Garmin as a drive when it is plugged in and I can see all the files.  It says 1.40G of 7.02G free.

    OK I figured it out.  You have to go into task manager and kill the Garmin Express process then without unplugging the Driveluxe start it and it will work.  Also make sure you set Garmin Express not to automatically start when the device is plugged in and reboot your PC before doing anything after you make that change to ensure it didn't start.  Might work without deleting the process but that seems to be what I needed to do when stuck in the Preparing mode.  Now it wants me to buy a MicroSD card because it does not have enough memory and needs 4G.  Frustrating.  I took the one out of my Zumo XT and put it in the Driveluxe formatted with no complaints and could access as a drive with Windows 11 but it is a 128G MicroSD and Garmin Express says nothing bigger than 32G.  Not sure why given the Driveluxe formated it fine..

    So I took a guess to see if I can fake out the software.  With the 128G MicroSD in the Driveluxe I went into Windows disk management and deleted the partition and then created a 16G FAT32  drive with 4096 byte sectors.  It accepted the drive as < 32G and is now downloading the software.  If no more posts then it worked.  Ask me in 4 hours...
