unable to connect to garmin express via laptop. also unable to connect bluetooth via phone and garmin 1000. Garmin express saying i have an update.

Does your laptop see the device? If not check you're using a data and not just a power cable.

Thanks, I was not using a data cable, laptop now seeing device.

Bluetooth issue was resolved by uninstalling Garmin connect on my phone and reinstalling.
