BMW Navigator VI no longer connecting to Windows PC

Since purchasing my Navigator Vi in November last year, map updates via Garmin Express have worked fine. Now however, the unit switches on when connecting to the PC, instead of going into data mode, and neither Express or the PC will recognize it. I am using the standard Garmin cable supplied with the unit, and the PC has not changed.

Any ideas? I am overdue a couple of map updates, and a software update.

What version Windows are you running? In addition I see you made the comment “…the PC has not changed.” Be aware that depending on the Widows settings, Windows updates can occur automatically in the background and you will be unaware of the updates occuring. I’m not say that is your issue,just making you aware of things.

You refer to “data” mode…does the Navigator support MTP mode? Might be worth a try.

GE needs some specific versions of Visual Basic to operate properly. Review the link at https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mac-windows-software/f/garmin-express-windows/267562/garmin-express-windows-11 and very specifically the last entry as to what to uninstall and reinstall.

Problem resolved. It was a faulty cable. No sign of external damage, and less than 12 months old, but as soon as I found another data cable, it worked first time. Thanks for your advice.
