Software update

Multiple times a day I get a notification saying there's a software update available for my navigation unit. I connect and it says I'm up to date. I don't see any other option than to uninstall the drivesmart app , then reinstall it in a couple of months time when a map update might be due

Software update is separate from a map update, what are you being told is up to date? And what do you mean by the DriveSmart app, Express?

I also wonder if the update notification pertains to the Drive app not the satnav.

It is the drivesmart logo that appears as the notification. The notification says, connect the nav unit to download a "software" update, but as far as I can tell, everything is up to date. For instance, 4 days ago I updated my map, within 6 hours I'm getting the connect to update notification again. And yes I am updating through the express app

In that case it seems its the DriveSmart app on your phone its referring to that needs updating. You need to do that on your phone not via Express
