Error installing map updates Nuvi 57

Downloaded and reinstalled Garmin Express several times. Every time I try to install "map up[date available" it gets through preparing device I get big red banner on top of install screen "There was an error installing the update." I also disconnected and reconnected the Nuvi 57 to my PC.

I never had problems with this software before - for many years.

Is Garmin purposefully bricking older devices so they don't need to support them any more?

How much free space is in your nuvi? My older 1490 works just fine so there is no deliberate blocking of older devices.

My bad about the blocking. The Nuvi has like 2.3 GB of data that I can't look at. It's like something is hogging up drive space for no reason. Never had a problem before. Thanks again.

Have you tried the nuvi 57 with a microSD card? I think the 57 has only 4 GB of internal memory and even the older devices need a memory card for the newer maps. The maximum for the nuvi 57 is 32 GB.

Will buy one today. Realized I needed more memory for the increasingly larger map files. Thanks!

That will be the hidden .system folder that contains the map and other files.
