Unable to register my device

At the moment I am not able to register my device (nüvi 2599LMT-D) with Garmin (it is recognized by Windows and also Garmin Express!).

After installing Garmin Express 7.13.1.0 (but also under 7.12.1.0) I get the following message when trying to register:

Server error

There is a problem communicating with our servers.

Try again or Register later

I've been trying this since yesterday, but there is no change.

  • Somewhat of a longshot but open Garmin Express (no device attached) and then click the gear at the top to reach the "General Settings" section.  Down near the bottom is an area marked "Advanced".  Click that and see if the selected option Garmin Connect Authentication Domain is set to the United States.

  • I'm from Germany. ;-)

  • Then set it for Germany or some server location in Western Europe closest to Germany.

  • Sorry for the late reply.

"Garmin Connect Authentication Domain" is preset to "Germany" after an installation on the PC.

The registration of the device still does not work!

Strangely, however, I can download the latest map (CN Europe NTU) normally and also install on the device / PC.

Only regarding the registration the said error message appears.

Can it possibly be due to the following circumstance?

I recently registered the device on a PC with Windows 10 21H2 after installing Garmin Express there.

The current registration attempt was on an older laptop with Windows 7.

However, I would then expect a message more like "The device is already registered."
