Garmin Express 7.12.1 - Install Failed

Hello,

I'm unable to install the latest GE Upate on my Windows 11 Pro laptop. I always get the message : Install Failed. Garmin Express could not be installed on this computer. Try installin again.

I get this whether I try to update through Ge or download the update online directly.

I also get the same error message when I try to uninstall GE... "could not be uninstalled on this computer. Try again later."

I've always had this problem from the beginning. Each time, I have to use this Microsoft Tool to dorce uninstall GE, and then I can install the new verison.

But this is very annoying each time - I wish to the have the update patches install automatically.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks in advance

  • This is a long shot, but may work and won't do any harm.  Locate the executable for Garmin Express.  On a Windows 10 machine it is the file express.exe and is found in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\Express.  Right click that file and in the drop down menu select "troubleshoot compatibility".  Then run that.  Then you should probably do a  reinstallation and retest.

  • Hey John, it was a good call, because now I got:

"Garmin Express is not compatible with your operating system." - message came from Garmin Express itself.

Garmin indicates that minimum requirement is Windows 7 SP1 or newer... As mentioned I have:

    Windows 11 Pro

    Version 21H2

    OS build 22000.675

Either Garmin express isn't able to recognise my OS properly, or there's an issue with Garmin Express itself.

    Anybody have any other thoughts?

    Thanks

  • FYI, I just followed these instructions to successfully uninstall Express: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=rnd8crAeQB2UCFOnbm9eLA

I was then able to install Express fresh (ran installation as Admin). Now need to wait for the next Express Update to see if the issue reappears...
