Garmin Express and iTunes

Dear community,

Since the last update of Garmin Express to 7.12.1.0 somehow it cannot recognize any new songs I add in iTunes. It recognizes the playlists and songs that existed before the update, but every time I add something new, or create a new playlist, G. Express doesn´t recognize it anymore. The refresh button does not solve the problem. I checked iTunes Preferences, and the "Share iTunes Library XML with other applications" is active. I also checked in G. Express settings, and in the "Managing your music in Express" has iTunes selected. I uninstalled both G. Express and iTunes but the problem is still there.  I can listen to everything I had before the update, but nothing new.

Anyone has a similar problem, ideas? Thank you!

Xana

  • Try the steps at https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=iBiZBj3Cer5py2x29trVN8 and specifically the steps where it states "If the steps above do not fix your issue, continue with steps below:"

  • Thank you for the help JohnfromPA. It´s better now, although not as it used to be. Sometimes I have to close Express a few times until certain playlists are recognized, same with songs. Maybe it will go back as it was when another update comes.

    Thank you!

  • One more thing you might try is to run the compatibility troubleshooter for Garmin Express.  I can't say if it will work but if it doesn't you can easily "undo" the change or even leave it alone.  My experience involved GE not always starting.  I would frequently get the startup splash screen but then nothing.  After many attempted fixes I noticed that somone had a GE issue, ran the compatibility check (which made a change) so I didn the same and I have no more issues with GE.  To run it locate the executable (on my installation it is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\Express\express.exe.  Right click the file and then select "Troubleshoot compatibility".  Once complete (only takes a minute) reboot and then retest.
