About every six months I connect all my GPS units (7 total) to Garmin Express to install any software or map updates. Several of my units have free lifetime map updates but I still have two OLD nuvi 255W units that don't. One of them still had its original map from about 2009 or so but the other one I'd paid to update to a 2015 map.
Now the weird thing is that yesterday Garmin Express said a map update was available to the unit with the old 2009 map data. It said it could install City Navigator 2023.10 but I would need a 5gb or larger flash card. So, I installed a 16gb card and it updated!
My other 255W with the 2015 map still only has the option to reinstall the same map, no updates.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining at all, but do any of you know why this happened? Just a fluke? Or are they not supporting the really old maps anymore so it defaulted to the newest or something? I'm just curious.
