Is class3 SD card the reason Garmin GPSMap 66i doesnt recognise SD Card

Purchased Micro SD card for Garmin GPSMap 66i. Its a 32gb card but Class 3. Garmin says it must be class 4-10.

Formatted the card to FAT32. Have downloaded map to card. Created a Garmin folder on card and placed gmapsupp.img file there.

Neither the device nor Basecamp seem to recognise the file. Is it simply because I have a class 3 micro SD card? Will go purchase another one but want to check that this is my issue.

Where did you get the map from, as it could be a map or card issue. What made you name it gmapsupp? What is the size of the file?

Thanks for following up. Most appreciated. Two files, one with BBBike and other with GPSfile depot. Originally tried both gmapsupp.img and gmapsup1.img (although I believe I can call them anything.img on the 66i). Didn't work and tried both individually. Didnt work. They work if I put them on the device so Ive eliminated a corrupt file as the issue. Thanks

If they work on the device then it does seem to indicate a card issue. I'd try another one.

You are right that you can name them anything on the 66

Thanks alot for your support. Tried a new card today but class 10 and it worked. Happy traveling !!
