keep getting the same update on my garmin drivesmart 61

Maybe something is wrong with the firmware.

You could try to reinstall the firmware with the WebUpdater (https://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27). The program may show you that the current version is already installed, but I would have it installed again.

After that, I would reboot the device, reset it to factory settings, and then connect it to Garmin Express again. Can the 4 updates then be installed?

unfortunately they are still there. the 4 little updates that keep reappearing are:

1. Map Themes - 2016 version 3.50

2. DriveSmart 61 Language Text version 2.00

3. Traffic Text, GLX, All Languages version 2.00

4. Proximity Text, GLX, All Languages version 3.80

how do u reboot the nav? i pressed the switch off button for 12 seconds. have i done that correctly?

i hope naming these 4 updates might mean something.

It's normal that the 4 updates show up again after reinstalling the firmware, restarting the device, resetting to factory defaults and reconnecting to Garmin Express.

But can you now install them successfully?

And did the WebUpdater show you the successful update of the firmware?

The web Updater has detected that I had the latest software. And I successfully did a reinstall on the web Updater too.

It is normal that after a factory reset these files are offered again by Garmin Express.

After all, the firmware is software.

I will have to check to see if the nav randomly restarts when I use it on a trip because that's when it seems to occur. I think it also occurred by just simply leaving the nav turned on today in the car.  what I will do is report later on whether or not it restarts randomly after I do a proper test.

i just checked for software updates again and there is none. thanks for letting me know that its normal to receive these updates again after a factory reset. very reassuring.  Lets just hope that I wont get those random restarts again! THANK YOU SO MUCH for everything.

Oh well, it sounded like the device always randomly reboots immediately after installing the 4 updates.
