When you did the installation were you logged into the PC with admin privileges? If so, as the Admin user or as a different user that had admin privileges?
I ask because of previous problems with Garmin software either not working if not installed with admin privileges or the installation being user specific (if installed by the Admin user it wouldn't work for other users).
To be honest, I don't understand your question. I am able to use a computer but have no knowledge with regard to settings etc. I have a guy who does all that for me, fortunately. He built my current computer and installed all the software and associated settings. All I can tell you is that when I boot-up the computer (running Windows 10 Pro 20H2) I just have to enter my password to get things rolling. Sorry I can't help you any more than that.
This is off topic but you might want to ask your guy if the Windows user that you are logging in as has admin privileges. If it does you should understand the vulnerabilities associated with that and insure there is a recovery plan in place.
My interpretation is that 7939545 is not having any issues, based on this comment...
Installed successfully. No issues
...and was just stating that everything was fine with the new version. Or are you asking because you're having a problem with the installation?
He is a good, reliable friend. This is the third computer he has built for me over the years. I have an external backup drive that copies the whole computer onto it every night. Once he has installed software for me I can then deal with any updates.
You are absolutely spot on. I just meant that I had downloaded the latest update successfully and then checked that it recognised my satnav and there were no problems ensuing from the installation.
Or are you asking because you're having a problem with the installation?
I'm asking because I don't know whether to do the installation while logged in as the computer Admin user, or logged in as Me using the "Run as administrator" option (user "Me" has standard user privileges), or logged in as Me with my privileges temporarily elevated to Admin. Garmin software installations can be user specific (data is written to the logged in users AppData) but they require admin privileges to run. I am certain that some of the past problems that I have run into are the result of doing installs logged in as the Admin user and it not working once I've logged out and logged back in as Me.
