Same problem - GE doesn't see/recognize existing Forerunner 945 when I connect it. Restarted PC after installing the 7.7.1.0 update, no change. Back to 7.5.0.0, which is the last working version for me.
If it matters, PC is running Wn10, latest MS patches including most recent "features" "update".
Yes. Works perfectly with older GE version, not at all with 7.6.0.0, 7.7.0.0, 7.7.1.0.
Other forum post(s) make me think a recent MS security update broke something for GE. I'm just glad I can still install and run the older version. Every time I start GE it asks if I want to update; I say no and all is well. For now.
It is KB5003254, the .NET Framework patch released in June, that is associated with reports of Fenix devices not connecting. I haven't seen much corroboration though so it isn't known whether the problem is just device or PC specific. Uninstalling KB5003254 reportedly solves the problem, at least until the next check of updates by Windows. It would be nice to have some more folks confirm or repugn whether uninstalling KB5003254 solves their problem.
Also, I recently saw a post about the system requirement of GE and .NET isn't listed. This doesn't surprise me. I have seen a number of applications not mention .NET but install it if they need it.
Thanks. I don't see KB5003254 in my recently installed updates, though could be the actual problem is installed with other updates for different flavors of Win10. Haven't tried things like deleting and re-installing the device. Since 7.5.0.0 still works and GE doesn't auto-update (yet!) I'm just going to wait for a more thorough Garmin fix.
