Garmin Express for Windows Version 7.7

Is anyone having a problem with their Zumo XT not being recognised by Express version 7.7 ?

  • After the known issues and reading the release notes, I thought it was time to upgrade GarminExpress 7.5.0.0 to 7.7.0.0.

    COMPLETE BANKRUPTCY.
    I did the test on a second PC. I had to install the NTU_2022_10 update and GEX 7.5 was present, I upgraded to GEX 7.7 from the app and started the map update on the PC.
    After the usual minutes of slow download the red message appeared: "AN ERROR OCCURRED DURING THE INSTALLATION OF THE UPDATE".

    The release notes for version 7.7 state that this problem has been fixed.

    To solve I had to:
    1) Uninstalled GEX 7.7 completely including system registry using Revo Unistaller.
    2) Installed my backup copy of GEX 7.5 which worked perfectly and completed the NTU_2022_10 map installation on PC.

  • Others are reporting no issues so unsure why you're having a problem

  • How many, sorry? I only have the experience of a circle of motorcyclist friends, with operating systems from Win 10, 8.1 and 7 all have had the same problem: updating GEX to version 7.7 the map is downloaded but not copied to the navigator. An error message appears at the time of copying.
    I'm talking about the Garmin / BMW navigator model: BMW Motorrad Navigator VI

  • Are there now problems to install the card on the PC or on the device?

  • At the time of copying the map to the PC, immediately after the download = error message.

    In my case I had regularly installed the map on the navigator and on the home PC using GEX 7.5.0.0

    To install the same map on a small PC that I carry on my motorbike, I wanted to try the new version of GEX 7.7. Then: navigator connected with the updated map, in GEX select option 'install only on PC'. GEX 7.7 shows error message, downgraded to GEX 7.5 everything worked fine.

    My friends with a single PC, trusting Garmin, agreed to the automatic upgrade to GEX 7.7 and found themselves unable to continue. After the download an error message appears and the map is not installed on the navigator and PC. I had to explain to everyone how to downgrade to GEX 7.5

    Have you tried launching express as admin, that fixed similar issues for me in the past

    Obviously that's the first thing I tried. Not work

    I managed to solve thanks to the Garmin Express downgrade, now I have the map on the navigator and on two PCs, everything I need to travel this summer.

    In a few months, with the new map released, I will be ready to follow the new episodes of the Garmin Express Telenovela, in this moment my interest has dropped, have a good trip everyone.

  • V7.7 been running for a few days now, approx 50% chance of starting up, and then about 50% chance of actually recognising devices. 

    All been fixable after a restart of the machine. 

    Just uninstalled and will be reverting  to v7.5.
