Zumo 550 Lifetime maps validity

I have two Zumo 550 units, one bought in Australia about 11 years ago, the second bought in the EU 2 years ago. My Australian unti has worked fine for many updates, but the most recent one tells me that updates are available but takes me to a payment page, not to download updates.

How long should I expect to get free updates on a 'lifetime' map? Zumo 550unti ID 3800294475

Call Garmin, there's something wrong as you shouldn't be seeing that screen.

I did as you suggested, finally managed to get to speak to someone at Garmin: it seems the Zumo 550 has past its supported life, no longer able to use the Maps supplied by 'There', the map supplier for Australia New Zealand, as they are too large to run on the GPS.

Glad I didn't go ahead and purchase the update as Express wanted me to, as the Garmin rep said they wouldn't have worked anyway.. :-(

I know folks who are still running their 550s with updated maps, so I'm not clear why Garmin told you that. You may want to post the issue on a Zumo specific forum
