'Garmin does not support the file type you tried to import'

I'm getting the 'Garmin does not support the file type you tried to import' message. I'm aware that this could be due to a corruption in the file? Could anyone help point me in the right direction please?

Repaired using Fit File Repair Tool. Import into Garmin Connect using the [import data page]

If this happens frequently, suggest removing the files located in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on the device’s file system - Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device

It's the first time it has happened, but I will remove the old files to try and lessen my chances of it happening again. I assume once synced with the Garmin app all of the activities are stored on there, so no data will be lost, only removed from the watch?
