Error Syncing with Garmin Connect

Attempting to sync my Fenix 5s with Garmin Connect for Windows. Hasn't worked since update in late February. I get the message "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect." No additional information, and reinstalling/restarting hasn't fixed the problem. I've search the forums and all info is years out of date. Please advise.

  • , there might be a corrupt activity (FIT file) on your 5s. Try a manual upload of your activity to Garmin Connect

How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

    • With your Garmin device connected to your computer
    • Open the drive associated with your device.

    • Look for your FIT file under the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder

If you get any message other than Import Complete, then there is a problem with the file. In that case, please zip the file and attach it to a reply to this thread.

    Insert >> Image/video/file >> Upload

Alternatively, post a link to the file using a file sharing service, such as OneDriveGoogle DriveDropbox, etc.

  • Thanks. One file did not upload correctly. The error it gave was:

One of your files was not accepted by the system. Please contact Support for assistance.

    File is here:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sO2F-V5lYqZlKzVmtqdBgtxkoOmAjSD0/view?usp=sharing

  • The file is only 1 KB in size. My walk to the mailbox is larger than that. Slight smile  I tried to repair it using Fit File Repair Tool. Doesn't look good.

Can you give us some information on this activity. Was it directly from your device? Was it accidentally deleted then recovered?

You might want to do some maintenance on your Fenix 5s to at least get it to the point where it will sync with Garmin either by Garmin Express, manual upload or Garmin Connect mobile.

    • Keep the number of files in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on the device’s file system to a minimum using these directions: Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device If you delete the files in your activity folder with a Mac computer, then empty the trash folder before you unplug your device from the computer.
    • Regularly check for firmware updates using Garmin Express
    • If issues with corrupt files persist, contact Garmin Support.
  • Lol. I noticed the tiny file size immediately. Grinning  Based on the date and time, it would have been a morning weight workout recorded directly on my watch. No idea what went sideways, but I deleted the file from my watch per your instructions. Now it's syncing fine, and I'm not going to lose sleep over losing one recorded workout. Thanks so much for your help!
