Windows 10 and Express Problem

So, here's what I have going on.  I have two laptops with Windows 10 that just recently had an update.  Maybe a week or so ago.  I have the most recent version (7.1.4.0) of Garmin Express installed on both.  I have a FR945 and a FR935 and they both had updates that needed to be applied.  I have 3 different USB charging cables.  Here's my issue.  No matter which watch, or which computer, or which cable, or even which USB port I use, my computers no longer recognize my watches as devices and will only charge the battery.  If I restart one of the laptops and connect a watch, it will detect the watch and then I can update using Express.  This is a one shot deal only as I have to restart the computer again for the watches to be recognized once more.  Is anyone else having this issue and is there a fix?  I don't know if this is a Windows 10 update issue, an issue with the latest version of Express, or a combination of the two.  There seems to be a similar issue posted in the S60 forum, but oddly enough, it only affects the S60 as some have said their other Garmin devices are working.  I'm at a loss.

  • Have you tried deleting your devices from Express, doing a Win reboot then re-adding your devices to Express?

  • I haven't, but I'm not sure this would work as neither laptop even sees the watches regardless of if Express is running in the back ground or not.  No new device found or anything listed as a drive.  If I pIug in my cell or ear buds into the USB ports, they are recognized by the computer. I'll give it a shot though.

  • Well you said if you restart one of the laptops and connect a watch Express sees it and then you can update ...

  • This didn't work any differently.  I'm guessing it has something to do with the Windows 10 update.  If I connect my phone, Bose ear buds or a thumb drive, the computers recognize these as drive F in my case.  Connecting a Garmin watch doesn't recognize anything. If I restart either computer and then connect a watch, it recognizes it immediately, but after a few minutes, it disappears as a drive.  I can't figure out why this is only happening to Garmin watches and nothing else.

  • Me neither. I suggest you call Product Support as they may have had other reports on your problem.  I'm running the latest Win10 and all my devices are still connecting perfectly.
