Garmin Express - Unable to add my new Forerunner 245 Music to Garmin Express

Garmin Express Version: 7.0.2.0

ForeRunner 245 Music Firmware: 4.40

Problem: Garmin Express does not detect my 245 Music when trying to "Add Device". My laptop (Windows 10) detects this device and shows it as a portable device and I am able to open the folders Garmin, Music, Podcast & Audiobook via windows explorer.

Additional Information & Troubleshooting steps tried:

  1. Garmin Express detects my 230J and also my friends 245 (not music). Both these devices are shown as USB Drive.
  2. I'm using the original cable from Garmin.
  3. Tried Uninstall, reinstall, restart.
  4. Tried using all the USB ports available on the laptop.
  5. When I first connected my 245 to the computer, I got the 4.40 update though Express did not detect my device.
  6. I called Garmin support and they asked me to change USB mode to Garmin and try. So I tried both Garmin mode and MTP mode.

    Further troubleshooting: I uninstalled Express-7.0.2.0 and installed an older version Express-6.7. It worked fine and detected my device and all was good; however it forced me an update to 7.0.2.0 (even though I changed the settings to never automatically download an update) and it was back to square 1. I guess Garmin Express-7.0.2.0 is the issue!

    Garmin Express Version 7.1.0.0 resolved the issue.
