Problems updating mapdata

I've been trying to update my BMW Navigator VI to Mapdata EU.2021.10 using Garmins Express for a fiew days now witohout success.

I've tried all those published little tricks that would help with Garmin Express problems (deactivated virus scanners and firewalls, exit background programs, take care for sufficient memory on the PC as well as on the Navigator ...). No joy!

The update allways stalls at 15.7%, the download rates drop down. There is no error message and GE continues to "download". At this point the file D6159120A.img has been created in the folder C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\Map\Map_Map.EU.2021.10\rmu\eu\2021_10\a340806a-53bb-49b8-bafd-21ddcbd2ba54\img\006-d6159-12\rev_0a. It has a size of around 2,628,775,424 byte (sometimes more, sometimes less) and this does not change anymore (tried more then 12 hours).

I have tried usiing Garmin Express 7.0.0.0 and 7.0.1.0 and on 3 different PCs. Also I have tried to install the map on PC only. This time a little CAB-file got downloaded before the download rates started dropping.

Anyone encountering the same problem?

I'd try deleting the folder in Core Service Downloads and try again

Well, I did try that several times, including uninstalling Garmin Express, deleting everything connected to this software and reinstalling. Did not do the trick

Are you on your own PC or trying at work? If at home next thing to try would be to see if it downloads to a cloned device, see here for details www.poi-factory.com/.../39231

It's my own PC. I will try the cloned device thing in the next days

It looks like I have found the solution.

After I've been following the advice of SUSSAMB (thx by the way) and tried to download to a cloned device, I came across exactly the same problem again. So I've suspected a problem with the GarminDevice.xml file.

Fortunately I did create a backup of my device, when I've bought it a few years ago.

I exchanged the xml file on the device with the original one from the backup. The map update is at 64% and counting now!
