Maps won't finish downloading in Garmin Express

My setup: PC with Windows 10 running Express 6.21. Edge 1000 with updated firmware. I connect the Edge to Express and get a notice that my maps need an update and that it will take three hours. I say okay and it starts and then....just stops downloading, somewhere between 5 and 20 percent. I've let it run for 48 hours and once it stops it is done.

Things I have tried: deleting and reinstalling my Edge from Express, deleting and reinstalling Express, turning off firewall and other protections, turning on VPN, running Express as an Administrator.

This is incredibly frustrating and sure makes me think about bailing on Garmin as I think about replacing my Edge 1000.

I did each and every one of those things. Same result, download starts and stalls out (though with the VPN on it didn't start at all).

In that case you'll need to call Garmin so they can have a detailed look at your system.

I'm having the exact same issue, tried all the same suggested resolutions to no effect. I have emailed Garmin this morning to see if they can provide more information.

Best to call as it's difficult to diagnose issues via an email exchange.

Which win10 build are you on? Seems with each new build release, there's a complete new set of issues. And just when those issues get resolved, they decide it's time to release a new build.

Build 1909 even messed up the Microsoft store.

I'm having the same problem with my Fenix 5X. It gets to around 15 percent and then says there's an error. The map update disappeared from Garmin Express for a couple of days so I assumed they pulled it as it wasn't working correctly. After it reappeared though I still get the same result.

interestingly on the main machine i have a windows insider build 19041 so pretty current and that never gets past 12% downloaded. Tried a retired laptop that hasn't had any updates in a year (build 18356) and that seems to be working fine.
