Garmin Express GPS Optional Update WW Autoroute DEM BMap Weather

Updated GE to v6.20.0.0 and checked the list of optional updates/other files. Just noticed in the list (have nuvi 3597 and Drive Assist 51) the optional WW Autoroute DEM bmap Weather update.

Googled it to try to find out more about it, but no explanation of its functionality was found.

Did see quite a few statements (on Garmin website also) that installing this optional update will brick GPS units it is not designed for. Even though is it listed (hopefully accurately) for my GPS units, I'm not inclined to install this one just to see what it is.

Would appreciate any information / experience any one has had with this optional update.

Hi dandemandan.

I have the same question. Just did a map update and got this on the optional updates list. The Garmin website is vague and hard to navigate, even with a GPS. You have to mine for the information. I found this link using a google search, "https://www.garmin.com/en-US/blog/automotive/how-to-receive-weather-information-on-your-nuvi-device/". This still doesn't help me, I have a Drivesmart60LMT. No information on whether it will work on the Drivesmart device only a Nuve with Smartlink. If this update is not compatible with a Drivesmart why was it offered to me? I had a Nuve years ago and it started suffering from spontaneous reboots. I never really got any satisfactory answer from Garmin on this problem.
