Express 6.19.2 and .NET 4.7.2

Be aware that Express 6.19.2 needs .NET Framework 4.7.2. My Windows 10 PC is stuck on an old version in order to stop perpetual failed attempts to upgrade Windows 10. Therefore, I have turned the Windows 10 upgrade feature off.

In trying to upgrade to Express 6.19.2, my PC seems stuck in an endless loop because it's trying to install .NET. I may have fubared Express and maybe my PC. Fortunately, I do have an image backup.

I've cancelled the .NET install and it seems to have rolled back successfully however I may not be so lucky with Express. Somehow, I am going to have to find 6.18 and perhaps stop it from ever upgrading again.

  • I guess it was somewhat of a false alarm. I rebooted my PC and retried the install of the .NET framework and it went through properly the second time. All is good for me now but people should be aware that the install of 6.19.2 may involve more than just Express.
