Map update will not install on my nav 5

Hi i have a bmw navigator 5 , i updated it the other day and since then the maps have gone from the device . I have tried again and again but still nothing will install on it , according to express when it finishes the update it is all updated . Even ran it in mass storage mode but still nothing . Customer support are looking into it for me but just wondering if anyone knows of a method of getting the maps onto it

Did you make a back up? If so copy the older map back. Are you really sure the maps have gone though? Check in Settings, Map & Vehicle, myMaps. Is it listed there? Is it selected? If not what is listed?

Hi sussamb, no unfortunately i have changed my laptop and don't have any backups . No there is nothing in mymaps at all .

Strange, since Express should realise there are no maps and offer the install. Try deleting the GarminDevice.xml file in the Garmin folder in case it's corrupted, then reboot your device which will recreate the file, now see if Express offers an update.

Ok will give it a go , every time i plug it back in to the pc it offers the same map update , So i go thru the update again but to me it seems to install a file of that size far too quick compared to how long it takes to download .

just a quick update , borrowed a laptop witch is running windows 7 , installed express and then went for a go at installing the maps , well what can i say , went on first time no errors . Maybe a windows 10 problem with express . Thanks for all the advice
